What were some of the things that Robert did with their TourTools solution to keep it performing at the top of its game?
Regular Maintenance – Just like your car, TourTools will work harder if it has regular maintenance. We suggest an annual procedure that archives the old sales data, eliminates old Operations, Payment, Reservation and Vendor data. We also can run a series of tests and tools that will check and adjust the databases themselves to optimize performance.
Regular Updates – Brennan Tours implemented TourTools and FileMaker back in 1989 when it ran only on Mac computers. Over the years they kept their version of FileMaker current and in 1996 we converted their solution to run on Windows-based computers. FileMaker and TourTools have continued to improve with every version offering better performance and a greater range of functions. Did you know that the current version of TourTools can email almost any TT document with the click of a button? Email is but one of a host of new features that have been added over the years.
Training – Brennan Tours took advantage of our experienced training and support team to provide ongoing training sessions for experienced staff as well as new employees. Training sessions enabled experienced staff members to take advantage of the many advanced features in TourTools. New employees were able to get a “quick start” into the solution making them productive in a much shorter time.
Change happens, plan for it – Technology is not a static thing, your computers, the software they run, your networks are in a constant state of change. Before making any major changes Robert understood that his team needed to check with our team to make sure that any new equipment or network changes they wanted to make would not have a negative impact on the performance of TourTools.
