Biography

John is a computer programmer who supported himself for 24 years as a group tour operator. He began studying programming languages at Miami University in 1970 where enrolled as a math major. Pursuing additional studies in journalism, anthropology, political science and business he graduated to start a career in the tourism industry by joining Kamm Tours & Travel, Inc. Building his first computer in 1979, he embarked on a dual career path that would ultimately lead to the formation of TourTech Systems, Inc., a software development company whose mission is to bring state-of-the-art technology to the front lines of the travel industry. As president of Kamm Tours for 11 years, John was an active industry volunteer, serving 2 3-year terms on the National Tour Association board of directors, 5 years on the Ohio Travel Association board of directors holding all officer positions, and 5 terms on the NTA's Technology Advisory Committee. John has traveled throughout North America lecturing on behalf of NTA and has visited most of the European countries. As CEO and lead developer for TourTech Systems, he has overseen the implementation of the company’s flagship software solution, TourTools, in more than 260 North American tour companies. He makes his home in the rolling hills of Eastern Ohio with wife, Linda, twin daughters, Sarah and Rebecca, and son A. J. When not on the road or computer, he enjoys sailing, wine-tasting, cooking, music and restoring the pastures and woodlands of a 1900’s farm.
